According to the Canadian Pharmaceutical Association, drugs are the fastest growing component of healthcare in Canada and have had a huge impact on improving the health of Canadians. Approximately 22,000 pharmaceutical products are on the market today. In 2004, pharmacists filled 381 million retail prescriptions. Drugs are now the second largest health-spending category after hospitals. But taking a drug from conception to the shelf is time-consuming; with a significant amount of time spent in clinical trials and on the tremendous amount of documentation required throughout process.
Is your organization planning to enroll non-English speaking subjects in a Canadian-based or global clinical trial? If so, conducting a trial made up of a cross-cultural, global group of subjects has legal requirements and barriers you may not have taken into consideration.
