Global Language Solutions (GLS), publisher of Global Communicator, is pleased to announce our recent EN 15038:2006 certification, the Quality Standard Designed Exclusively for the Translation Industry by the European Committee for Standardization. In many ways, the certification is more important for assessing quality in the language services industry than ISO 9001 certification because it specifically defines basic requirements of services and quality of services for translation companies.

As the first quality standard specifically geared towards translation providers, buyers of language services have an objective set of criteria for distinguishing and selecting vendors.

To receive EN 15038 certification, GLS was audited by a third-party certifier for the Austrian Standards Institute, an internationally recognized, independent certifying organization. During the audit, a comprehensive review was conducted to identify the translators' qualifications and experiences, the extent of their compliance with quality control system, confidentiality of translated material, documentation processes, and retrieval of translations. The auditing firm did not find a single major nor minor nonconformity requiring correction prior to the issuance of certification.

GLS also has ISO 9001:2008 certification, a comprehensive standard on quality management systems and practices established by the International Organization for Standardization.
