Message from the Editor Welcome to 2010. First and foremost, our hearts and prayers are with those who are suffering in Haiti, and those who are dedicating their time, energy, and resources to aid in the recovery efforts.

In this issue of the Global Communicator, we're breaking out our paper and pencils and doing the math. Or rather, we will take a look at some serious number-crunching — the 2010 U.S. Census. We also share information about the Dalai Lama's upcoming visit to Los Angeles in support of Whole Child International, announce our EN 15038:2006 certification, and feature Italian as this issue’s language.

Global Language Solutions (GLS), publisher of Global Communicator, is pleased to announce our recent EN 15038:2006 certification, the Quality Standard Designed Exclusively for the Translation Industry by the European Committee for Standardization. In many ways, the certification is more important for assessing quality in the language services industry than ISO 9001 certification
Our hearts and prayers go out to the nation of Haiti. After the earthquake, the social media platform twitter quickly updated people on the status of the country, survivors, the missing, and relief needs. The world responded and was able to immediately start aiding the relief efforts via a simple text. Please visit our blog, OneStopGlobal for a list of places to text your donation to relief organizations aiding Haiti.
